The Lady Warrior Tennis team is off to a great start by defeating Lawrence Central 4-1!
Warren Central hosted Lawrence Central to start the 2019 Girls Tennis season last night. The Lady Warriors are coming off a 4 overall win season last year. This year with a new Head Coach and 2 new assistants, The Lady Warriors have something to prove. Lawrence Central was that first test.
1st Singles sophomore Tia Hague playing in her first high school match had a solid performance winning a thrilling match, 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4. 2nd Singles sophomore Madelyn Oconitrillo, came from one set behind to win 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(7-5) in another three set nail biter. 3rd singles senior Alexis Moment won her match in straight sets to capture Warren’s first point winning 6-0, 6-2. The first doubles team of senior Ashley Jarels and senior Morgan Oconitrillo had a tough opponent and struggled to find their rhythm and eventually lost their match, 0-6, 6-2, 3-6. The newly formed 2nd Doubles team of junior Kelli Rivers and senior Shila Shelby struggled with the wind and theirs serves but hung in their match to give Warren the deciding point to clinch the victory over Lawrence Central, 6-4, 6-4. Warren takes on Greenwood on 4/3 and Cardinal Ritter on 4/4, both at Warren. Both matches start at 5 pm.
