February 7, 2024
Good afternoon, Warren Scholars, Families, and Staff,
We have a few important announcements for the week of February 7th.
It is exciting that our very own Indianapolis will be the host site for this year’s NBA All-Star game on Sunday, February 18th. Throughout the city, there will be a full schedule of events and activities to celebrate All-Star Week, including right here in Warren. Warren Central High School will host a Celebrity Charity Basketball Game on Thursday, February 15th, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Get ready to witness your favorite celebrities and Warren Alum showcasing their skills on the court, all for a great cause. Doors open at 6 PM for the unforgettable Saks Fifth Experience. This in-person event will be a night filled with entertainment, friendly competition, and unforgettable moments. Tickets and more information can be found linked here.
Please remember there is no school on Monday, February 19th, to celebrate President’s Day, and an eLearning day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 20th. 3rd graders and high school students will be asynchronous, while K-2 students and students in grades 4th - 8th will be synchronous. More details will be shared from your child’s school over the next week. The 23-24 school calendar is linked here.
On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse, known as the "Great North American Eclipse," will trace a narrow path of totality across 13 U.S. states, including Central Indiana. As a result, all MSD Warren Schools will be closed on this day, and students will have an asynchronous elearning day. Monday, April 8th, is the day after our spring intersession break, so materials, learning activities, and special eclipse safety glasses will be sent home prior to the break. More information on the eclipse can be found linked here.
MSD Warren Township will host its annual Teacher Recruitment Fair on Wednesday, February 28th. Participants can participate in person or virtually. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
This week is an opportunity for us to recognize and show appreciation for our incredible school counselors in MSD Warren Township Schools. Our amazing counselors play an important role in supporting our students with academics, social skills, college and career readiness, and all the things that our students go through on a daily basis! We are very fortunate to have 39 counselors in Warren who go above and beyond to meet the needs of the students they serve. I hope you will take a minute to thank them!
Thank you for your continued support and investments in Warren students, schools, and staff. #WarrenWill create Joy in the Journey.
Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
