Venom: The Last Dance SSU

In the third installment of its series, “Venom: The Last Dance” added a new sorrowful twist to Marvel as Eddie Brock, Venom and other symbiotes prepare for a disastrous world ending. The movie, which came out Oct. 24, does a great job of balancing action, emotion, and humor, and it provides a bittersweet ending to the trilogy.

In “Venom,” the first movie of the series, reporter Eddie Brock investigates Carlton Drake who held hatred toward humanity. On his journey, he becomes bonded to Venom, a symbiote who invaded Earth. They come together to fight the common enemies, Carlton and Riot, who had formerly bonded with him about their hatred toward humanity. In the process of taking them down, Brock is murdered by Riot.

“Venom: The Last Dance” begins in a dark void, with Venom’s creator, Knull, locked in eternal space. His only means of escape is destroying the codex, which is the tie between Venom and Brock. To sever the tie, either Eddie or Venom must die. This concept ties back to Brock’s death in the first “Venom” movie. After Brock is pierced in the back by the villain, Riot, Venom takes over his body, saving him and also creating the codex.

The movie has a very interesting and humorous storyline. It’s questionable because this is a movie about alien-like characters invading the world to free their creator. Lots of gore and fighting is what would be expected throughout the film, but the relationship between Venom and Brock and the strange yet hilarious encounters they had along the way really helped to make the film even better.

Furthermore, the scenes of Knull in the beginning made the film far more captivating. When viewers are introduced to Knull and his plan they are put into the mind of a teal symbiote by directors. This teal symbiote and his host, Detective Patrick Mulligan, foresaw Knull’s yearning for escape and how it would lead to the demise of the world.

Along with the foreshadowing came Venom’s apprehension of the situation and Brock’s worry. Neither character wants to die, and they seem very reluctant to sacrifice themselves for one another. Though death is a serious topic the scene had a very diverting tone. The film introduces a varied amount of serious topics but never goes too far in depth which fits that PG-13 rating.

The movie also had a very emotional ending. It came as no surprise since Tom Hardy, who played Eddie Brock, is parting ways with the film. The “Venom” trilogy was amazing and “Venom: The Last Dance” definitely made a great impression. It’s sad to see the film go, but this was a needed ending. Brock can go back to his normal life with his memories of Venom and all of their adventures.

Overall, “Venom: The Last Dance” was a spectacular film. There were lots of action and heartwarming moments. It was nice to see that though Venom changed the whole trajectory of Brock’s life they still had a great relationship. The ending is very bittersweet, but it shows Venom’s change of opinion and his compassion toward Brock.
