Daredevil, the man without fear, is back and is ready to recapture the hype from the original show. “Daredevil: Born Again” is a new Disney Plus original series and is one of the first shows from Marvel Television, a new division of Marvel Studios. For fans of the first show, this will be a great way to dive right back into the dark tone and feel of the world of Daredevil.
Created in April 1964 by Stan Lee, Daredevil is a hero who became blind at a young age due to toxic chemicals coming into contact with his eyes. While the chemicals took away his eyesight it also gave him enhanced hearing, smell and touch, which allows him to function as if he had the ability to see. He also learned many skills, techniques and fighting styles that allowed him to be the hero of Hell's Kitchen in New York City. When Daredevil isn’t fighting crime on the streets he is Matt Murdock, a lawyer who tries to solve the problems in the courtroom.
This series is a sequel to the highly praised Netflix series, “Daredevil,” which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. Initially, this series was considered to be non-canon to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity, but now it has been cemented into the history of the franchise along with the other Netflix Marvel series.
Not only did Netflix make “Daredevil” but they also made other series such as “Luke Cage,” “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist,” “The Punisher” and “The Defenders.” All of these series were meant to show the dark and mysterious street-level side of the MCU.
Daredevil is played by Charlie Cox who returned to the role in 2022 in “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law,” cameoed in “Echo” in 2024 and even voiced his animated counterpart in “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” from early 2025.
Not only has Cox returned but many of the original cast have come back to play their characters once more in this new series. Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson returned to play Murdock’s close friends Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. Jon Bernthal plays Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, Wilson Bethel plays Bullseye, and Vincent D’Onofrio returns to play Wilson Fisk, otherwise known as The Kingpin, who is Daredevil’s arch-nemesis.
While many of the characters are from the original show, “Daredevil: Born Again” also introduces new heroes and villains such as White Tiger and Muse to the MCU.
The show takes place over eight years after the events of the original show, which took place in late 2018. This means that the events of this show take place in late 2026 in the MCU timeline. This first season will have a total of nine episodes and it has already been renewed for a second season.
The first two episodes came out on March 4 and can be watched on Disney Plus with a new episode being released every Tuesday, so make sure to tune in to see this highly anticipated sequel to the beloved “Daredevil” series.
