Moviegoers see a horror movie monster reborn

Be careful of the creeper. “Jeepers Creepers: Reborn” is a remake of an old classic monster horror movie.

For those unfamiliar with the film, “Jeepers Creepers” is based around “The Creeper,” a mythical beast that kills humans to harvest their organs every 23rd of March. The reason it does this is to replace the ones that are rotting away on the creature’s body.

In the first film, The Creeper’s first victims were brother and sister Trish and Darry Jenner, who visited its hunting grounds in the Florida countryside for spring break. The two then observe the creature slip bodies into a large pipe at a church, the main location of its nest. Darry volunteers to investigate, but falls to the bottom to see hundreds of bodies hung up on the walls. After a while, The Creeper attacks, causing the two to run around the entire countryside, looking for anyone to help. It was only around the end that they received help through the guidance of Jezelle Gay Hartman, a psychic. Thanks to her, the viewers learn that the beast seeks out its victims by smelling their fear, and because of Trish’s and Darry's fear stench, the monster finds victims that it likes. The creature then finds the pair and takes Darry, where it then cuts the back of his head open and harvests his eyes, leaving Trish alive and traumatized by the events at the end.

The second film was released in 2003, sporting a new line of the plot for the soon-to-be series to assimilate to its ever-growing mass like a biological parasite. In this film, on the 22nd day of Spring before The Creeper's estimated time for hibernation, Jack Taggart Sr. and Jr. witness the monster abduct their youngest son Billy Taggart. It then goes after a school bus, filled with high school students, and hunts them all down. After a while, The Creeper then starts to hunt and kill some of the students one by one, while a few others pair up with the Taggarts to help kill it once and for all. They were all nearly close to killing it too, before The Creeper went into hibernation and was then transformed into a sideshow attraction by the Taggarts while it slept, the time that The Creeper would emerge again growing closer.

After the first two movies made big hits at the box office, a third film was created, and released by Myriad Pictures and Infinity Films on Sept. 16, 2017.  The film was set a day after the first film, where the police of the Florida countryside find the Creeper's corpse-filled and booby-trapped truck. They move it to the impound, and events start to unravel about the Creeper and its motives. It's not long after that the Creeper continues its fleshly hunt, killing police officers and teens left and right. It’s only problem was that now a sheriff named Dan Tashtego was putting together a small team to kill the beast. At the end, the Creeper, after realizing that it was bested, left off in a rage to presumably hide and recover its wounds, while one of the main characters said their goodbyes to their allies, before hopping onto the same bus that got attacked in the second film.

Finally, the "Jeepers Creepers" movie series created the fourth movie, going by the name  "Jeepers Creepers: Reborn." This film was made to be an incoming sequel and soft reboot to the film series, set to be released to the U.S on Sept. 19th, only ten days from now. The film this time is set in Louisiana, where a HorrorHound film festival is being held there for the first time in 23 years. Amongst the attendees are the movie's main protagonists, Chase and his girlfriend Laine. Laine however is not completely normal, as, after a while, she starts gaining disturbing premonitions and visions of the town’s past - including the myth and legend: The Creeper.

Despite the plot of the movie being reduced to a nutshell of an explanation, the cast is surprisingly open. Sydney Craven will be playing the role of Laine, the girlfriend who experiences Louisiana's demonic past. Born in London England, she earned her degree from Arts Educational School in 2015, before becoming an actress later on in life. Some of the films she’s acted in were “Coming out of the Woods,” “A Christmas Carol,” “Native,” and “York Witches Society.” Imran Adams will be acting in the role of Chase. An English actor, Adams has not only been an actor but has also been performing in a soap opera called “Hollyoaks” for many long years. Some of the films he acted in were “Barracuda” and “Hollyoaks: Omnibus.”

For all those that want to feel true horror in the classics, then “Jeepers Creepers: Reborn” is for you and all the people you know who love the horror genre. The film was released on Sept. 19th, in AMC Castleton Square, Regal UA Galaxy, Studio Movie Grill, and Cinemark Greenwood Corner to name a few.
