June 17, 2020
Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,
To honor George Floyd and to shed light on a dark place of social injustice in our society, MSD Warren Township, along with all Marion County districts, will turn on our football stadium lights on Friday, June 19th from 10:14 PM until 10:22:46. June 19th also known as Juneteenth, represents the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. George Floyd was born on October 14th, which signifies the turn on time. The lights will be illuminated for 8 minutes and 46 seconds which signifies the length of time Officer Chauvin had his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck.
I want our community to know that I am committed to doing what I can to lead and serve to eradicate racism in our schools and community.
At this time, our planning for the 2020-21 school year is for both an in person and online model for grades K-12. We have created a parent / caregiver survey to help guide our plan. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by visiting bit.ly/OPENSURVEY2021. The survey will close on Friday, June 19th. It is my goal to provide our opening plan by the end of June.
By now, K-8 students and families should have received their summer learning packets.
