July 28, 2021
Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,
We have a few important announcements for the week of July 28, 2021.
I hope all of our students and staff had an inCREdible first day of school today. Thank you to our transportation team, bus drivers, and parents who got our students to and from school safely. You probably noticed that it was a little slower out there than normal. This will improve each day as we work out the first week’s kinks and some of the construction projects in the area are completed. We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience.
Please remember that one of our COVID safety protocols to start the 21-22 school year is that all Warren students, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask inside of our school buildings and on our school busses. Mask use flexibility may be implemented in the classroom when students are able to social distance at 3 feet and are seated facing in the same direction. I would also like to remind our families that if your son or daughter is experiencing symptoms of COVID or has tested positive to keep them home and contact their child’s school.
An important reminder for returning students to Warren. They will need to bring their District assigned device, iPad or Chromebook, back to school with them to start the school year. Students who do not return with a working device or charger may be charged a replacement fee. Also, a student receiving a new device that does not return their old device, charger, and case may be charged a replacement fee. If you are not returning to Warren, please return your device to your child’s school or at Moorhead Community Resource Center. If you are new to Warren, a device will be assigned to you within the first couple of weeks of school.
As we continue to enroll students and refine our bus routes, please check your ParentVue routinely for changes to bus stop times. Upon logging in, select the student you would like to view. If you have more than one student you may change your selection at the top of the page using the drop-down arrow located next to the first student's name.
Next, select "Student Info" in the left column. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see bus information listed under "Other Data." If you do not have access to ParentVUE yet, please contact your child’s school for assistance.
We are very excited to adopt a new form of communication called ParentSquare. It is our hope and goal for every family to join ParentSquare. The District along with each Warren school and our classroom teachers will use ParentSquare to send and receive information, share photos and documents, post calendar events, promote volunteer opportunities and more, in one centralized location. Each family should have received an invitation email or text to join ParentSquare. Please reach out to your child’s school if you did not receive the invitation or if you have any questions. The ParentSquare App is available for Android or Apple devices.
One last important reminder. ALL Warren students will continue to have access to breakfast and lunch at no charge for the 21-22 school year. Families do not need to complete any application or form for this. That being said, if families want to receive free or reduced textbook rental, they will need to complete a new application for the 21-22 school year. The application is available at your child’s school or by visiting our website and clicking the Textbook Rental tab under the Parents tab.
Excited to get the 21-22 school year under way! Thank you for your continued investment in our Warren students and schools and I hope you have an inCREdible school year!
Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
