October 26, 2022
Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,
We have a couple of important announcements for the week of October 26.
Linked here is the MSD Warren District Newsletter for the month of October. Also linked here is the October edition of The Indy Far East Magazine. Please check out the great things happening in our schools and community.
Thank you to the many families who have completed the District Fall Parent / Caregiver Panorama Survey. The survey will close on Sunday, October 30. If you have not yet completed your survey, you can find it linked here or in your child's school newsletter. Your time and feedback are greatly appreciated.
Attention all of our 7th and 8th grade families. Has your student completed their application for the 21st Century Scholar Program? This scholarship provides up to four years of undergraduate tuition to income-eligible students at any public Indiana College or University. Students must apply in 7th or 8th grade, and you do not want to miss out on this opportunity. We are hosting our second 21st Century Scholars Event at Stonybrook Intermediate School on Wednesday, November 2, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. to learn about the scholarship and complete the application. Support from school counselors will be available in the LGI room, and students and families will enter through Door #1. All MSD Warren 7th and 8th-grade families are invited to attend. In order to complete the application, the family needs the student's date of birth, social security number, and address. For the parent, only a valid email address and a social security number or Tax ID number if available. If you have questions, please reach out to your student's school counselor.
The Roller Cave, located on East 21st Street, in partnership with the Indianapolis East Rotary Club, is hosting a Halloween Party and Costume Contest for students in grades K-6 on Friday, October 28, starting at 6:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, and this includes skate rental. Proceeds from this event will support the Rotary Club's service projects which include scholarships for our WCHS graduating seniors.
This year, Warren students will participate in three planned eLearning days, with the second one scheduled for Tuesday, November 8. The purpose of these three days is to provide our staff with full days of professional development. More details will be shared through teachers and school newsletters. The 22-23 school calendar is linked here.
Please note that the deadline to pay textbook rental fees is November 30. Parents and caregivers may review their student's fees through ParentVue. Many families may be eligible for textbook rental assistance. Parents and caregivers should complete a curricular assistance application online at www.lunchapplication.com or through a paper application at your student's school. If you have any questions, please reach out to Linda Sponsel at lsponsel@warren.k12.in.us.
Have a great rest of your week, and thank you for your continued investment in Warren students, staff, and schools.
Together…#WarrenWill grow our students.
Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
