February 1, 2023
Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,
We have a couple of important announcements for the week of February 1st.
As we begin a new month, all MSD Warren families/caregivers will receive an email with a copy of their student's attendance calendar which will communicate all school days missed this school year. The purpose of this calendar is to bring awareness and help keep track of your student’s attendance throughout the school year. If you have more than one student in Warren, you will receive a separate calendar for each of your students. Linked here is an example of the attendance calendar. If you have any questions or need support, please reach out to your school's Family Engagement Liaison, School Counselor, or Administrator.
K-7 students and families can expect to receive a copy of their middle-of-the-year NWEA results via ParentSquare in the next few days. I encourage parents and caregivers to review these results with their child to talk about areas of strength and to create a goal from now until the end of the year assessment. If you have questions about the results, you can contact your child’s teacher or refer to the parent resources from NWEA linked here.
Please remember there is no school on Monday, February 20th, and the third and final planned eLearning day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21st. Just a reminder that this will be a synchronous eLearning day which means that students will be required to meet virtually with their teachers on this day. More details will be provided as we get closer to that date. The 22-23 school calendar is linked here.
I want to thank the legislators, staff, our school board, and community members who were able to attend Warren’s legislative forum last Saturday. The presentation slide deck is linked here. If you have any questions or would like to have more information, please feel free to contact me.
Another reminder that The High Ability Program Parent Recommendation Form for the 2023-2024 school year is now available through March 26th. Students are identified for the high-ability program based on state and District criteria, which may include achievement test scores, student academic ability, and parent and teacher recommendation. Parent recommendations are considered, but are not a guarantee placement in the High Ability Program. For placement consideration for students in grades 1st through 8th, please submit a parent recommendation form linked here.
Thank you for your continued support and investment in Warren students, staff, and schools.
Together…#WarrenWill grow our students.
Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
