Good evening, this is Rich Shepler, principal of Warren Central High School. I want to thank each of you for sticking with us this semester. We have faced many challenges and we have experienced great success. We couldn’t have made it through without each other. I am incredibly grateful for each person that makes up our Warren Family.
Tomorrow, Monday, December 21st, all final semester 1 grades will be posted to Synergy. You may notice that your student has an NG as a final grade. It is important to know that when a student receives an “NG” on their transcript, it indicates that a credit is not earned and may have to be made up in order to meet graduation requirements. A grade of “NG” will impact a student's participation in extracurriculars in the same way a failing grade does. It will be transcripted into the student's academic history that the student did not successfully complete the class. While students are accountable for their grades, we do not believe grades are the primary motivation for a student's success. It is our hope that an “NG” will communicate to students they did not meet the requirements of the class but recognize the extenuating circumstances that accompany learning during the COVID19 pandemic.
We have all been impacted by COVID19 in some way. This reporting option provides students an opportunity to recover and provides some relief from drastic consequences a failing grade would have on their future success and aspirations.
Semester two classes will begin on Monday, January 4th. Both hybrid and fully virtual students will be on a synchronous schedule. This means all students will attend live zoom sessions with teachers during periods 1-7 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be application days and will allow opportunities for extra academic and social emotional support through learning hubs. Details about specific learning hubs will be shared the week of January 4th. Please be sure that your students are checking email and Canvas daily for updates.
Student schedules are being finalized for semester two. Our counselors are working hard to insure all students have an accurate and appropriate schedule. All students should be sure to look for their updated schedule on Sunday, January 3rd. Our academic coaches will share videos and emails to assist with this process.
Our Cohort teams will continue making WOW visits second semester. If you would like to request a visit, please fill out the form included in the corresponding email.
As always, please check your email, the Warren Township app, and social media for continued updates.
